George Plint Awarded STLE Fellowship
In May 2026 we were honoured to see George Plint join the illustrious ranks of those who have been awarded a fellowship to STLE- the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers.
George’s award was bestowed by outgoing STLE president, Kevin Delaney, during the Presidents Luncheon at the 80th STLE Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
Speaking after the award, George said:
“ I spent my early working life as a soldier. The one thing
you learn from life in the military is that “everybody counts for
something”. At the age of thirty, I gave up my secure job as an army
engineer, to join the embryonic company, Cameron-Plint Tribology Ltd and
shortly after that attended my first ASLE Annual Meeting and Exhibition. Forty
plus years on and I have been honoured with an STLE Fellowship. That has led me
to thinking about what is so special and enduring about STLE and how it has
remained relevant to me, when other organisations have faded. I think the answer is
that ASLE/STLE was, and remains, so diverse and inclusive, from long before
these terms became a political “thing”; everybody from internationally renowned academics
to practical problem solvers, the math and science to the nuts and bolts. Everybody
counts for something!”
STLE fellowship is reserved for those who have an outstanding commitment to the fields of Tribology and Lubrication, and shows George’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of tribology over the last 40 years.
